Putting ALL GOOD Ideas Into Practice

ALL GOOD brings to you an education in essential life and learning skills for students, teachers and staff.

How are you feeling today? It’s not a trick question. The idea that feelings matter – and matter a great deal in schools – is at the base of the work we do at ALL GOOD Education.

We believe it’s not enough to simply fill students’ brains with facts. Educating young people to become healthy and successful adults involves teaching them Emotional Literacy (EQ).

We offer professional development for staff, educational programmes for classrooms and teaching and learning resources for the whole school. Think of ALL GOOD Education as your own professional help desk – passing on best practice to great teachers.

Our story

As a team of experienced educators we recognized an increasing need in schools throughout New Zealand for a different approach to teaching and learning – one that focuses on life skills, shared values, mutual respect and genuine care between teachers and learners.  Inspired by this vision we have spent two years researching, refreshing and creating the most to-the-minute student focused, teacher guided learning experiences for you to use and to make your own.  Tried and tested in a decile 1 intermediate school in South Auckland we have crossed the T’s and dotted the I’s all ready for you to get started and use in your school.

Benefits

Without self-awareness and coping skills children risk growing up unable to communicate their needs in a healthy way, they cannot establish good relationships with others or solve issues when they arise.

Before working with ALL GOOD Education teachers and students voiced their fear about being in classrooms where they felt there was a threat of violence, being bullied or having to deal with disrespectful comments made towards them.

The top five benefits reported by students and teachers after participating in ALL GOOD Education are:

  1. Respectful communication levels between students and staff
  2. Balanced emotionally intelligent individuals
  3. Co operative, positively engaged learners
  4. Increased confidence and heightened self esteem
  5. A positive attitude to conflict resolution and problem solving

Teachers also reported an across-the-board decrease in swearing and minor violence in their classrooms.

Method

ALL GOOD Education has been purposefully designed to benefit staff and students in a shared learning space blurring the traditional line between teacher and student – consciously creating a new space where discovery and safe exploration of self and other is achieved – a fresh space where mutual respect and honesty is achieved.

ALL GOOD caters to different learning levels and styles through our inquiry based fun and interactive approach. Our programmes provide a range of activities including role-play, games, lively discussions and journaling as well as quiet reflection time.

Students and staff learn skills of non violent problem solving and conflict resolution and are able to take responsibility for their actions and the impact those behaviours have on others.

Lesson plans are designed for easy delivery inviting you to input your own flavour as an educator whilst always linking across and through the New Zealand Curriculum.
